My daughter will come from one of these three regions:
1) Krasnoyarsk
2) Yaroslavl
3) Vladimir
She is not in Siberia, which I thought was going to be a possibility. The thought of flying into a Siberian airport in the dead of Russian winter was daunting.
UPDATE - Krasnoyarsk is in Siberia, so did I say daunting? I meant dauntless!!
My agency called today to cover a travel checklist. The cost of travel is ungodly!!!! I have saved about half of what I need and thought that would be plenty. And it looks like I'm about out of time to save. So, I'm going to be doing some fundraising for my travel. My friends are talking about a community garage sale and fish fry. Anyway, I'm stressed now because of the travel costs. I know I can max out credit cards to pay for it and my parents will help, but I have a migraine now.
If my child is in Vladimir, 4 - FOUR - trips are required to Russia. It's a great region though and I won't have a choice unless I take my paperwork out of that region, which I don't want to do. But traveling to Russia four times is freaking me out. Just to give you an idea.
Airfare - $2ooo
Moscow Hotel - $3oo to $5oo per night (at least two nights stay)
In-Region Hotel - $100 - $150 per night
First Trip - 3 to 7 days
Second Trip - 14 days
Third Trip - 14 days
Fourth Trip (if in Vlad) - unknown
There is a 10 day court date period between trip 2 and 3. If I can visit my baby in the orphanage during that wait, I will stay in Russia for those 10 days and not return (combining 2nd and 3rd trips).
So tonight, I'm googling my regions and talking to my friends about organizing fundraisers.
I have a headache.

what is the 4rth trip for? just curious? i know what you mean about flying into the siberian airport in winter. we are about to fly to kemerovo for our first trip. this means, more-than-likely, that the second will be in the dead of winter. BRRR! This trip we are flying siberian airlines from moscow. i hope it is safe! congrats on your 3 regions though. let's hope for just 3 trips! maybe even 2, if they will waive the 10 day wait!
the 4th trip is for a second 10 day wait period for the child's passport....it's something new and unique to Vladimir.
uhhh...our agency considers Krasnoyarsk as part of Siberia and all the families I've known who have traveled there have also referred to it as Siberia...It is definitely known as a cold region.

yeah, I realized that after I got home and googled it. Oh, well....honestly, I don't care. It's gonna be cold wherever I go....but she did say I wouldn't be in Siberia, so I'll have to wait and see.
Hi Lavonne,
That's exciting news about the regions! Did they give you any indication on when you might receive a referral? I've noticed that some blogs have a "donate to my adoption" button which links you to a page where you can donate funds with a credit card. If I find one, I'll pass on the url onto you. It wouldn't hurt? I'd donate!

Hi Lavonne,
Check out this site with a dontation button. It looks pretty straight forward: http://ouradoptionjourney-jennyandron.blogspot.com/2008/10/update-and-lots-of-photos-and-of-course.html
We haven't received the call from our same rep to discuss the travel check list yet. We also don't know what region we will be going to. It's been two months since Russia has had the paperwork. We did get a call last week because we needed to change an error on a document. That request originated in Russia. So, at least I know the paperwork is being reviewed... It's all so exciting and nerve racking!
Best, Joanna
